For more information about Manudirect, please click here to view the brochure or visit www.manudirect.eu.

Excursions are free for registered participants and will take place on the second day of the conference after the lunch (please view conference program). The conference excursions will end with a conference dinner in the Goriška Brda, with a cultural programme from local cultural societies.

About the iCAT Conference

This year we are organizing the third International Conference on Additive Technologies, iCAT 2010. This conference is dedicated to the emerging field of “Rapid technologies”, and their applications. This year’s special topics include Medical applications, design for RM and Education with Hands-on-prototypes. The conference is one of the specialized DAAAM conferences (www.daaam.com) and is organized in cooperation with:

  • Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Laboratory at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maribor,
  • the Rapid Prototyping and Innovative Manufacturing Network (www.rapiman.net), which is the Slovenian association of RP organizations, and a member of GARPA,
  • Vienna University of Technology - Department of Production Engineering / Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IFT-IMS), and
  • Institute for Innovation and Development of University of Ljubljana.

The previous conference was very successful from all »conferencing« aspects; great speakers, satisfied delegates who came from all over the world (some statistics can be found at http://icat.rapiman.net/08_statistisc.php), and most of all the actualities of the topics. The conference, intended mainly for visitors with technical backgrounds, also attracted 24 surgeons, which made the conference a very unique, interdisciplinary event.

This year we would like to incorporate this previous experience and organize a conference that will once again bring together experts, researchers, experienced users, producers, and newcomers from the additive manufacturing field.

MAIN TOPICS:

  • Design for Rapid Manufacturing,
  • CAD and Innovative Simulation Methods,
  • Rapid -Prototyping, -Tooling and -Manufacturing Technologies,
  • Quality Control for Rapid Manufacturing,
  • Materials for RP and RM,
  • Customer Input Systems and Mass Customisation,
  • Case Studies and Best Practice Examples of RP&T&M,
  • Education for Rapid Manufacturing.
Special features:
  • Medical Applications of Rapid Manufacturing,
  • Rapid Technologies and Design in Educational Processes,
  • Business models and Additive Manufacturing.

PARALLEL EVENTS

  • Exhibition of Additive Manufacturing devices by their producers
(3D printers and High End AM systems)
  • Exhibition of designers’ products made by AM
  • Excursions to MBN Nanomaterialia
  • GARPA Global Summit and session on world advances in Additive Manufacturing
  • Award ceremony:
  • Best paper of iCAT 2010, will be awarded the Rapid Prototyping Journal Best paper Award with 50 GBP and 1 year free subscription to the Rapid Prototyping Journal,
  • Best Additive Manufacturing Design Award, will be awarded to the designer who presents a product, expressing the most innovative use of Additive Manufacturing (winner will receive a special web presentation by RAPIMAN)
  • Best Young Scientist Award, will be awarded to the best paper written by a perspective young scientist.
  • Best Exhibitor Award, will be awarded to the company presenting new or improved technology and/or new successful application of additive manufacturing.
